Action star Rudy Fernandez pulls no punches against the big C

     Rudy Fernandez hasn’t lost it. The good looks, the hair, the laconic edge of a true action star. A man’s man. In a word: macho. These days, though, the public sees little of Rudy.

     “Lo-bat,” he says of his current under-the-radar lifestyle. His batteries might be low but the sidelined action star is on full throttle, battling stage IV periampullary cancer, which has metastasized to his liver. He lives on cycles of chemo and radiation therapy, undergoes regular PET-CT scans, and radio-frequency ablation to blast the malignant lesions deep inside his body.
